Thanks to a thoughtful gift from Hospice of the Valley’s White Dove Thrift Shoppe in Mesa, our archives have new memorabilia from its Palace West days!
Earlier this year, White Dove volunteer Sue Livengood contacted the Friends of the Orpheum Theatre to let us know the thrift shop received a donation, which included several posters for the Palace West Theatre. Sue said the colorful graphics on the posters immediately caught her eye, and while she recognized the address of the theatre, the name of the theatre was unfamiliar.
Thinking the posters might have historic value, Sue took to the internet in hopes of finding a rightful home for the well-kept items. Thankfully, the search led her to the Friends of the Orpheum Theatre. After exchanging several emails, we are happy to report the Palace West posters are finally back at the theatre.
Sue said the volunteers at the White Dove Thrift Shoppe go above and beyond to make certain donations are treated with care, dignity and respect, as they are often made by family members of former patients. We are thankful to Sue, White Dove General Manager Melody Mountain and all the other White Dove volunteers for making certain these historic treasures were well cared for before being returned to the Orpheum Theatre.
