Strengthening Nonprofit Hospice Care

Hospice of the Valley will become the hospice provider for Banner Health in the Phoenix and Tucson areas, beginning Dec. 1. Banner Hospice staff will join Hospice of the Valley, ensuring a seamless transition of care for current Banner patients.

“Hospice of the Valley has 46 years of expertise in hospice care and extensive resources, including 24/7 after hours support and nine inpatient hospice homes,” said Jim Cote, Banner’s Vice President of Ambulatory Services. “We’re glad to know our patients are in good hands as we focus on growing our home health and ambulatory service lines.”

The two nonprofit organizations have enjoyed a long history of working together to provide patients and families with exceptional care.

“This strengthens the mission-driven care we are committed to preserving and ensures a safety net for those in need,” said Hospice of the Valley Executive Director Debbie Shumway. “We are excited to welcome Banner Hospice employees to our agency and honored to provide more families with comfort, dignity and compassionate care.”
