Hospice of the Valley Earns Top National Honors for Patient Care and Family Experience

Exciting news to share! Across all our hospice clinical teams, Hospice of the Valley has earned some of the industry’s most prestigious awards for exceptional patient care and caregiver experience. These achievements place Hospice of the Valley among the nation's top-performing hospices and reflect the incredible care, compassion and teamwork our teams bring to patients and families we serve.

Congratulations to our East Clinical Office, including the East Valley inpatient units, on earning the 2026 Hospice CAHPS Hospice Honors Award, and to our Central, Northeast and West Clinical Offices and their respective inpatient units on earning the Hospice Honors Elite Award.

Quality and Compliance VP Sofia Bales explains the significance of these recognitions and the dedication behind such outstanding results.

How are the award recipients selected? MatrixCare, the organization that created the awards, analyzes data from the Hospice CAHPS (Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems) survey, a national CMS initiative to measure and improve healthcare delivery. To earn Hospice Honors, an organization must score above the national performance benchmark on at least 17 of the 22 evaluated survey measures. Hospice Honors Elite, the program's highest distinction, is awarded to hospices that exceed the national benchmark on all 22 measures.

What does this recognition mean for Hospice of the Valley? We're incredibly proud of our results. These awards recognize all of our employees for achieving the highest standards of excellence in patient care and caregiver experience. They continue to provide countless moments of support, clinical excellence and genuine human connection each day.

What do families and caregivers tell us they appreciate most about our care? Families consistently tell us how much they value knowing that help is available whenever they need it. One of the strongest themes we hear is appreciation for our team's responsiveness and the reassurance that support is only a phone call away. Families also frequently recognize how quickly our staff responds to questions, concerns and changes in a patient's condition. Another area that stands out is communication. Families appreciate that our team members take the time to explain care, medications and what to expect in ways that are easy to understand, helping them feel informed and supported during a difficult time. We also hear tremendous gratitude for the compassion shown by our staff. Families frequently praise our commitment to honoring each patient's wishes and goals of care, ensuring the individual’s preferences remain at the center of our decision-making. They also express appreciation for the expertise our clinicians provide in managing pain and symptoms, helping patients remain as comfortable as possible and improving quality of life. Together, this feedback reflects the personalized, compassionate care that our teams provide every day.

What sets Hospice of the Valley’s care apart? We maintain such a high level of consistency because we remain focused on providing exceptional care to every patient daily. We strive to meet patients and families wherever they are in their journey, treating each individual with compassion, dignity and respect. Consistency comes from attentive listening, clear communication and a commitment to understanding the unique needs of every patient and family. Whether we're managing symptoms, improving comfort or providing emotional support, our goal is always to deliver peace of mind and the highest quality of care.

What role does teamwork play? Hospice care is truly a team effort. No single person can provide the full range of support our patients and families need. It takes a highly skilled interdisciplinary team working together to deliver expert symptom management, timely assistance, emotional support, spiritual care and compassionate guidance. These awards are a testament to the collaboration, commitment and caring demonstrated across Hospice of the Valley.

How do these awards show the impact of our collective efforts? This recognition belongs to every member of our organization. From clinical staff and support services to administrative and operational teams, each person contributes to the positive experience our patients and families receive.

We could not achieve these results without the dedication of every employee. Thank you for helping make Hospice of Valley one of the nation's leading hospice providers.
